Main Advantages of Our Garden Buildings

Our standard cabin kits have so many premium features. You can hardly find a garden log cabin with similar quality and premium cabin equipment as our standard summer house sets.

German made tilt & turn systems with multi locking points

ensure the best user comfort and extended lifespan.

Toughened safety glass in doors and windows

ensures durability and safety. Toughened glass is five times stronger than regular glass and in the event of severe impact, toughened glass crumbles into small blunt pebbles and does not shatter into spikes or shards like regular glass. This significantly reduces chances of any injury, while regular glass, on the other hand, breaks into long, sharp spikes and can cause serious injuries.

Double glazed doors and windows with aluminium rain deflectors

significantly increase weather and temperature resistance in your cabin and enable you to use your cabin during colder periods. Double glazing is included in all our standard cabin kits with walls of 44mm thickness and above*. (*Excludes BBQ huts / Grillkotas which use a different system).

European made door hardware, door handles and locks

ensure excellent functionality and durability.

Metal storm braces and in-wall strengthening rods

provide better stability and more integral cabin strength (included in all cabin kits with 44mm wall thickness and above).

Heavy duty roof construction

ensures a minimum 120-200 kg / m2 roof load capacity for all our timber cabins and makes sure your cabin is strong, stable and will last for years to come.

Factory pressure treated foundation frame

timbers enable you to start installation immediately. All remaining cabin components require wood preservative to be applied after the assembly has been completed.

Factory pressure treated terrace boards

are highly durable and user friendly because they reduce the amount of extra work. Our deep pressure treated terrace boards do not require any additional treatment, just install and enjoy.

All cabin components are made of carefully selected slow grown dense Nordic spruce

which ensures better cabin strength and longevity compared to commonly used southern wood.

Weatherproof packaging

protects your cabin from moisture, sun, UV and other weather conditions. Your cabin pack can easily stay outside for several weeks, if you don’t install it immediately after the delivery.

Over twenty years of experience in design and production of wooden buildings

ensures we have a better knowledge and knowhow of producing and delivering premium quality cabins to our customers.

5 year factory warranty

on all wooden components.

About Summerhouse24.ie

We are log cabin experts with 20 years of experience in log cabin production.

We design, engineer, produce, supply and build log cabins, garden rooms, garden offices, summer houses and other wooden buildings made of slow grown Nordic spruce.

The slow-growing Nordic spruce wood we use for our log cabins is directly sourced from sustainable Northern European forests and then milled in our own Estonian factory. This integrated approach ensures we keep good control over the entire process from forest to our customers’ homes. We pride ourselves on producing cabins of robust quality, durability and at competitive prices.

Using the latest digital production machinery, we carefully produce all the cabin components before meticulously packing the entire kit and wrapping in weatherproof film ready for shipment to our Irish warehouse on the outskirts of Dublin. From here, our logistics partners will collect your cabin and deliver on an agreed date using Hi-Ab crane vehicles.

We supply private customers, carpenters, Schools, businesses, and construction companies with our range.

To give you a better understanding about our range of log cabins and wooden garden buildings, we have written about the most important points below and we also regularly publish articles and useful information onto our log cabin blog.

Our Garden Rooms

Our garden rooms, garden offices and garden summer houses vary from small 3 x 3 m cabins up to large 40 m2 buildings. These garden buildings are widely used as garden offices to work in, as an extra living room, guest houses for visiting friends to sleep in or as rental cabins for earning extra cash with Airbnb, garden gyms, hobby rooms, studios, garden rooms, pool houses, snooker or pool playing rooms, table tennis rooms as well as for many other great activities. For smaller cabins up to 15-18 m2 we mostly use 44mm thick wall logs, while large cabins come with 70 mm thick walls and above. For homes with smaller gardens or other limitations, we do a range of cabins with garden rooms and sheds combined.  These are ideal if you would perhaps like to have a new hobby room and consolidate an old shed into it at the same time.

Many of our clients often ask us similar questions when they are considering purchasing a garden building and so we thought it would be useful to answer these commonly asked questions below:

Is putting a garden room in my garden a good idea? In short, yes! We have highlighted the many examples of different uses for log cabins and would also like to point out the simplicity, landscape design and value that a quality garden building will add to your property. The right building can quickly solve space issues, provide a room for concentration or your hobbies for a relatively low cost in comparison to moving house or adding an extension.

When we say simplicity, we mean minimum time spent on the construction of the room itself. Most of our small and medium sized garden rooms can be installed within 2-4 days by customers themselves if they have previous DIY experience. Alternatively, our assembly team can fit most of these cabins within a day or two. Most of our log cabins do not necessarily require a full concrete pad, they can be installed on concrete pillars, blocks or ground screws which is much faster, cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Before constructing your base make sure you request the detailed cabin plans from us to ensure it will be the right size.

Will a cabin in my garden look out of place? Well, this is only something you can decide but we would suggest you consider the following: A wooden garden room can also be a stylish focal point in your garden and so integrate into the landscape design. We offer a range of styles to our cabin models from traditional to contemporary designs. In addition to the form you choose, you can play with colors, shades, and decorations to add beauty to your garden.

Does a garden building add value to my property? Now, talking about the value added and money spent on a wooden garden building, we are sure that a high-quality wooden garden building will be a safe investment because for a relatively low budget, you gain a lot of extra space to indulge on your intended use. If you sell your property, then a cabin in the garden can surely only add appeal for your buyers.

Can I sleep in my garden room? You can enjoy an afternoon snooze in any of our cabins but if you are looking for overnight or more regular accommodation then we would advise you to look at our bedroom cabin range. You will also need to consider whether you need to seek planning permission and building control approval. This is especially important if you plan to use the cabin as a guest house or a rental cabin. You’ll also need to consider things like insulation, power connection and heating. We are always happy to discuss these questions through with you to make sure you make the right choice.

Our log cabins, garden guest houses, bedroom cabins and holiday cottages

Most of our bedroom cabins range between 40 and 100 m2. These one-, two- and three-bedroom log cabins are widely used as holiday cottages, large guest houses, offices and granny annexes.

These log cabins feature 70 or 92mm wall thickness depending on the model, double glazed doors and windows, multi lock door systems, tilt and turn window systems, floor boards, roof boards as well as all metal fixing and other wooden components, all made of premium quality Nordic wood. With additional roof and floor insulation as well as installing a light heating system, they are good to use all year round.

Besides the cozy and natural feeling you get when inside a wooden cottage, our prefabricated cabin kits make building them fast and easy. Depending on the size and other factors, most of our log cabins can be installed within three to seven days by our professional assembly team.

Our sauna cabins

Our sauna cabins are traditional Finnish sauna cabins. Most of them have a family sized sauna room and additional areas for use as a changing room or where you can install a shower room.

Most of our sauna cabin models can be assembled within a day or two.

In addition to our standard log cabin features, all sauna cabins are also equipped with full sauna room equipment, including sauna benches, glass sauna door, headrests, floor grates, insulated sauna ceiling and sauna heater guard. Please note that the sauna heater is a separate purchase and not included in the price of the cabin.

Our sauna cabins are usually constructed in home gardens, sport clubs, country clubs, hotels or next to holiday cottages.

Our garden storage sheds, wooden garages and carports

Whether your home is built of bricks, concrete, wood or any other material, a wooden garage, carport or storage shed will always be a great match and add beauty and style to your home.

Our wooden carports are made of glulam wood, which ensures superb stability and very long-life span. Glulam wood compared to normal wood has approximately two times more strength and stability, and is more moisture resistant. Our wooden carport kits come with prefabricated components, which then need to be connected using bolts, screws, washers and nuts.  This makes assembly fast and simple, and should be achievable for any person with some previous DIY skills.

Summerhouse24 wooden garages and garden storage sheds are all made of high-quality Nordic wood. These garage and shed kits feature prefabricated wooden components, double glazed windows, strengthening metal rods and all metal fixings. You can choose between double garage doors or up and over garage doors.

Compared to concrete, metal or plastic garages and shed, we think that our wooden buildings add more style to your home and besides the functionality, also act as a stylish garden landscape feature.

Our professional assembly team can build any of our garages, sheds or carports within a day or two.

Our BBQ huts

BBQ huts, Barbeque cabins and Grill-kotas originate from Northern Finland and Scandinavia. These centuries old buildings are still widely used in Finland, Sweden and Norway, but they have also become very popular all over the world.

A typical wooden barbeque lodge you can buy today is usually hexagonal or octagonal and comes equipped with a central fireplace with a round table fitted around the fire. Wooden benches as well as a chimney and smoke extraction hood are also included.

Barbeque cabins are widely used in home gardens, at glamping sites, countryside hotels as well as sport clubs. It is a great way to organize a cozy dinner with family or friends. These sociable structures are ideal for enjoying drinks with friends while the food is cooking in front of you.

Can I get customized or a bespoke cabin?

We do amendments to our existing cabins if necessary and we can also produce and supply a bespoke cabin made according to a customer’s plans.

Whether it is a tailor-made log cabin or a standard log cabin with amendments, first we work out all details with our customer and when this is done, we are able to calculate the price for that cabin. So that before we make any further steps, you can understand if the price is acceptable and we can move on with your project. Price calculations are free of charge and non-binding.

If the budget has been accepted and confirmed, but before we plan the log cabin into production, our customers will receive detailed cabin plans, which they either approve or request changes if necessary. Log cabin production starts only after a customer is happy with the plans and has approved the cabin plans.

Personalized or tailor-made garden rooms or a log cabin project has three main aspects compared to a standard model that you should keep in mind. Firstly, it takes more time, because the time from quote to approval of plans usually takes time and secondly the price, which is usually 15-20% higher than a similar standard cabin. This is because of the extra work and time spent on the project as well as more time-consuming production process. Thirdly, once you have approved your bespoke design for production you have no right to cancel your order and the client waives their statutory rights to cancel or reject the contract which is fully chargeable.

What is included in a standard cabin kit?

Our log cabin kits come with everything to complete the build from the base up. The base should be in place before the assembly starts and must provide a flat, firm and level surface. You will need the following tools: handsaw, hammer, screwdrivers, rubber mallet, level, tape measure, drill, knife, a pair of pliers and a ladder. A cordless screwdriver will make assembly faster and life easier!

Our cabin kits include following components: foundation beams, wall planks, rafters and full roof structure, floor boards, roof boards, doors, windows, skirting boards and other boards and laths, screws, nails, storm braces, strengthening metal rods for inserting into walls as well as detailed cabin plans and general assembly instruction.

What extras to consider for a cabin?

For your convenience we also supply optional extras for your garden room, shed or cottage at very competitive prices: bitumen roofing shingles and roofing felts, wood preservatives, roof and floor insulation kits and guttering.
